About Me

Hi, I’m Sean Stiles. I’m an Learning Experience Designer and eLearning developer based in Kentucky. As a former educator with more than a decade of classroom experience, I’ve had daily exposure to the importance of quality instruction and engaging learning experiences.

I am a learning experience designer with the necessary skills to develop agile and effective learning experiences grounded in sound human learning theory and multimedia design principles.

My approach is guided by my masters degrees Curriculum Design. I believe that the best way to address a knowledge or skill gap is to start with the outcomes/goals in mind and work backward from there.  

I build experiences with engagement and creativity in mind, thanks to the fact that throughout my career, I have developed a love of teaching, technology, and design that I am able to utilize in eLearning development

Freelance eLearning Developer & Instructional Designer -- May 2022 - Present
● Design and develop story-driven, scenario-based eLearning experiences for clients on demand
● Implement action mapping to design learning solutions that produce results
● Collect in-depth learning data from any online experience with xAPI and utilize frameworks to analyze positive impact on organizational goals
● Partner with instructional design teams, SMEs, and performance consultants to develop eLearning storyboards
●  Compiled report based on comprehensive background research into the utilization of xAPI for the collection of in-depth learning data and use of data analytics to evaluate the positive impact of xAPI on organizational goals.
● Performed Quality Assurance (QA) reviews on over 200 courses, incorporating rigorous assessments of accessibility and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) criteria, and subsequently addressed identified issues through course analysis and necessary improvements.
● Collaborated with cross-functional teams to identify and update e-learning products through authoring platforms, such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Cloud, improving product accessibility and interactivity.

● Spearheaded curriculum development consisting of 13 units and 180 lessons for online implementation
● Utilized Airtable, Google Suite, and Slack to collaborate with 5 team members and manage project over 6 month timeframe
● Completed instructional materials including assessments, scripting, videos via Camtasia, and enrichment with Google Slides, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud
● Created assessments, enrichment, and scripting for 4 additional areas working with SMEs and utilizing LaTeX

Online Teacher: Biology and Chemistry | CA Connections Academy --  August 2019 - April 2022
● Remote Education: Implemented online curriculum, over 3 years resulting in over 90% student pass rates
● Guided 120+ students to over 80% success rate utilizing Pearson Connexus LMS, Adobe Connect, and Zoom
● Successfully gathered buy-in from families through onboarding and weekly verbal and written communication

High School and Middle School Science Teacher | California Public Schools --  December 2012 - April 2019
● Collaborated with district-wide PLC to create 6 unit NGSS project-based program on 3-year rotational model
● Engaged in cohort to design/implement Ag-business focused program with 90 students over 4 years, yielding 98% retention and 20% higher average performance over peers
● Created engaging coursework using Bloom’s taxonomy and Webb’s DOK to increase engagement/success above 85%
● Identified Web-2 tools, coding curriculum, and early-adoption of NGSS to effectively introduce new technology
